During the secondary school years, Wind and Hamvas listened to many different bands ranging from grunge to doom metal. Between 1995 and 1996, Wind listened to mainly grunge bands such as Nirvana and Soundgarden, while Hamvas was mainly interested in disco music. However, their musical taste changed rapidly and interestingly in the same direction. First, Wind started to listen to more aggressive bands such as Sepultura and Korn, while Hamvas started to explore hard rock bands such as Van Halen and Kiss. During that time both Wind and Hamvas were also affected by their common friend Dávid Hammerman who mainly listened to heavy metal bands such as Helloween.
In 1997, Wind started to listen to doom metal bands such as My Dying Bride, Tiamat, Type O Negative, and Anathema. This switch in preference was followed by Hamvas, while their common friend still listened to heavy metal. Between 1997 and 1998, Wind and Hamvas enthusiastically explored bands within this genre. One band which made a huge impact on Wind, was Tiamat and their 1997 release entitled A Deeper Kind of Slumber.
